Beauty Kitchen Organic Vegan Body Wash

"Zesty & uplifting, bubble bursting all over wash with grapefruit, orange and lemon" that is what Beauty Kitchen Organic Vegan Body Wash Citrus Burst promises us(yep, I didn't make it up. Its name is that long). Does it live up to its promises? Well, I tried this product, and I'm going to tell you all about it.

So, how did I end up with this product? It started with a random video I watched on Facebook. The video showed a sea (I'm not quite sure which sea it was) covered with plastic trash (they called it plastic soup), followed by a picture of a whale stranded on a beach with its belly filled with plastics. Later I found out that the whale picture was actually an art installation made by Biboy Royong. Nevertheless, the video made a deep impact on me.

As soon as I watched that video, I decided to use plastic as little as possible and I'm happy I'm not alone. Nowadays, there is so much information available about sustainable life without plastic, and there are many plastic-free products on the market already. This Beauty Kitchen Organic Vegan Body Wash Citrus Burst (oh God...) is one of them.

To achieve that they launched "Return - Refill - Repeat", the world's first closed loop solution for beauty packaging. That means when we finish the product, we can take it back to the shop, and it will be washed and reused. 100% no trash.

Besides that, Beauty Kitchen also achieved "Leaping Bunny" and "Zero Plastic Inside" meaning that all of their products are animal cruelty free and contain no microplastics inside.

Citrus Burst is literally Citrus Burst!

I bought this Beauty Kitchen Organic Vegan Body Wash Citrus Burst (sigh... can I use initials for next time?) from Holland & Barret shop for 9.99 € (300 ml). It is a bit pricey compared to the average body wash from a drugstore (which costs on average around 5-6 euro per 500ml), but compared to another - vegan, plastic free, SLS free, organic, and zero waste - product, the price is actually on the low side. Lush shower gel for example cost 16 € per 260 gr. The body wash comes in an aluminum bottle with a plastic pump. Yes, I said plastic. But no worries! They reuse everything, remember? In fact, if you bring the empty bottle to one of the Holland & Barret stores, they will reward you with 200 points (equivalent with 2 € discount).

Now how about their promises? The smell is very citrusy thanks to essential oils of grapefruit, lemon, and orange. I smell mainly grapefruit and lemon and not so much orange, but it is certainly zesty and uplifting! The whole bathroom always smells so fresh after I take a shower, and it helps to wake me up in the morning. Bubble bursting? Well, I've seen better and worse bubbling. So it is kind of in the middle of my bubble chart. I use 2 pumps on my sponge, and it bubbles enough to wash my whole body. But it is far from "bursting" they promised on the package. The big plus point for this BK (Beauty Kitchen. Just to make it clear :/ ) Citrus Burst Body Wash is that it doesn't dry my skin out. My skin feels squeaky clean (yeah, believe me. When I said "squeaky clean" I mean it is so clean, it can squeak under the water lol...), but it feels nourished. I still need to apply body lotion afterwards, though.  

The Final Score

This body wash works very well even though the name is super annoyingly long and it's not very bubbly. It smells wonderful and it doesn't dry my skin out. It is a bit pricey compared to drugstore's standard products, but for products from the same category, it is actually quite cheap. Even better, by using this product we are contributing to making less waste so it is not only good for your skin but also for the environment. Beauty Kitchen Organic Vegan Body Wash Citrus Burst deserves 4 out of 5 stars!
